2020 Presidential Election

2 in 3 Americans Think Trump Will Get Reelected

Approximately two-thirds of Americans expect President Donald Trump to be reelected in November. Monmouth University conducted a poll from February 6 to 9, where they spoke to more than 800 people. Most of those respondents said Trump would “probably” or “definitely” get reelected.

But that doesn’t mean they think he should get elected. The same poll showed that only 42 percent of respondents said Trump should remain in the White House.

“While most voters want to see Trump turned out of office, his steady ratings through the entire impeachment process and memories of how 2016 turned out suggest that few are willing to bet against him, and the Democratic nomination kickoff in Iowa did not exactly inspire confidence in the party’s ability to find someone who can take on the president,” said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute.

Murray was referencing the botched Iowa caucus, where a faulty app led to confusion and delayed results for Democratic nominees.
