2020 Presidential Election

SC Is Most Impressed with Sanders

Former Vice President Joe Biden was widely considered the front runner when the Democratic debates started, but after coming behind VermontSenator Bernie Sanders in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada, Biden is banking on South Carolina to turn his campaign around. If early polls are any indicator, he might not be able to do that.

A new CBS News poll showed that South Carolina Democrats who watched Tuesday night’s debate in Charleston, South Carolina, were most impressedwith Sanders. Lagging Sanders by two points was Biden, who impressed 43 percent of viewers.

But it’s not over yet. Days before the February 29 primary in South Carolina, Biden won an imperative endorsement from Representative James Clyburn, who is a widely regarded Democratic politician in South Carolina.
