Americans' Favorite Travel Destinations

As Fourth of July marked the inofficial beginning of the summer holiday season in the United States, millions of Americans are looking forward to a carefree summer of uninhibited travel now that the pandemic finally appears to be in our rearview mirrors. According to the latest edition of the Ipsos/Europ Assistance Holiday Barometer, 75 percent of Americans are either “really excited” or “happy” to travel this year, while just 34 percent of U.S. respondents said that Covid still has a significant impact on their desire to travel. If anything dampens Americans’ travel enthusiasm this summer, it’s inflation, with 61 percent thinking that price increases will impact their travel plans very much or somewhat.

But where do Americans like to travel if they decide to pack their bags and head to the airport? According to data from the International Trade Administration and the National Travel and Tourism Office, American air travelers either like to stay close or make their way across the Atlantic. Our latest Racing Bars video not only shows where Americans like to fly, but also how air traffic has evolved over the past two and a half decades.

Description

This video shows U.S. citizen air traffic to overseas regions, Canada and Mexico since 1998.
