TRAVEL

Who Uses Long-Distance Trains the Most (& Least)?

Although train travel is more environmentally friendly than flying or driving, barriers such as limited infrastructure, high costs and slower travel times often make long-distance train trips less competitive than other forms of transport in many countries. Survey data from a Statista Consumer Insights survey shows that in Brazil, just six percent of respondents had bought a long-distance train ticket within the last year. In the United States, just under one in ten said the same. Meanwhile, long-distance train travel remains more popular in Europe and India.
