The Countries Struggling The Most With Math

Mathematics is considered by many to be one of the toughest of subjects to get to grips with, but which countries have the highest share of people with low numeracy skills? According to the OECD, the country standing in the metaphorical corner of the classroom is the United States, with 29 percent of 18 to 29 year olds not reaching an adequate level of numerical proficiency. Italy and the United Kingdom didn't score too well either, at 25.9 and 25.4 percent respectively. On the other end of the scale, South Korea recorded an impressive 7.1 percent.

The survey tested respondents and ranked them on a five point scale. Adults who failed to reach level two were considered to have low numeracy skills.
