Article 50

Did MPs back Leave or Remain?

As the planning continues in the halls of Downing Street for the best strategy for the UK's exit from the European Union, there is still some possibility that the fabled 'Article 50' will never actually be triggered - commencing Brexit. Recently, a court ruled that such a decision, although supported by the majority of voters in the June 23rd referendum, would have to be voted on in parliament putting the final decision making powers in the hands of MPs. The infographic below shows the declared Brexit stance of MPs before the referendum, revealing a clear majority were in favour of remaining in the EU. Whether this decision will actually go to parliament, and whether the MPs still retain their original loyalties, remains to be seen.
