Tech Firms with Biggest Overseas Profit Hauls
Yesterday, Bloomberg released a ranking of the U.S. tech companies with the biggest overseas profit hauls. Microsoft comes in first with $76.4 billion in profit outside the United States in 2012. That represents 20 percent of the total $416 billion held by U.S. tech companies in overseas earnings.
IBM positions itself in second place with $44.4 billion, followed by Cisco Systems ($41.3 billion) and Apple ($40.4 billion). According to Bloomberg, “it's estimated that American corporations have more than $2 trillion in offshore earnings that are not being taxed by the U.S.”
