True steel use in Taiwan 2008-2017
In 2017, the true steel use (TSU) in Taiwan amounted to about 14.28 million metric tons of finished steel equivalent. True steel use is obtained by subtracting net indirect exports of steel from apparent steel use (ASU). ASU is defined as production or deliveries plus imports minus exports of steel industry products and is commonly used to measure steel demand. ASU can be calculated for finished steel products or crude steel equivalent.
