National Football League (NFL). Established in 1932 as the Boston Braves, the team changed its name to the ‘Redskins’ the following year, and moved to Washington D.C. in 1937. In July 2020, following increasing pressure from fans and sponsors, the Washington Redskins announced that they would change their name as the term 'Redskins' was seen as disrespectful toward Native Americans and other people of color. During a July 2020 survey in the United States, 47 percent of sports fans liked the name "Washington Warriors" as a replacement for the team name.
