Consumer reasons for shopping in person in US Q2 2021, by age group
According to the results of a May 2021 survey conducted among consumers in the United States, the leading reason for shopping in person through physical stores was the immediate availability of the products. This was slightly more important to consumers aged above 55, when compared to younger consumers. Experiencing the product before buying it was the second most popular reason for in person shopping for more than half of all the surveyed age groups. Avoiding having to make a return/exchange was the third most important reason for consumers aged 35 and above, whereas for shoppers aged between 18 and 34 the third most important reason for in person shopping was its convenience.
