Hourly wages of different races compared to housing wages in the U.S. 2023, by race
Hourly wages in the United States are broken into different percentiles to show the hourly earnings of White, Black, and Latino renters in the different percentiles. White workers in all earning percentiles had a higher wage than Black or Latino people. Considering that the housing wages for one- and two-bedroom housing were 23.67 and 28.58 U.S. dollars respectively, all earners in the 40th percentile and lower could not afford housing, while only white renters in the 50th and 60th percentile could afford a one- and two-bedroom apartment that year. Black and Latino renters in the 70th percentile could afford one-bedroom housing and not two-bedroom housing, while white renters were able to afford both.
