In 2022, Turkey had the highest number of applications allocated to a judicial formation at the European Court of Human Rights at 12,551, followed by Russia, with 6,077 applications. Turkey and Russia also have the largest number of pending applications at the Court. Among all cases from 2022, the most common violation to human rights encountered by the European Court of Human Rights were breaches against article 6 of the Human Rights Act, which protects people's right to a fair trial and public hearing.
