Breakdown of cancer inpatients released from hospitals in China 2021, by age group
In 2021, among the cancer inpatients discharged from hospitals in China, more than four in five were above the age of 45, while around 55 percent of inpatients were over 60 years old. The prevalence of most cancers increases with age, with longer life expectancy and lifestyle changes, cancer has become a substantial challenge to China's public healthcare system and one of the main causes of death among the Chinese population.
