Value of M1 money supply in the UK 2000-2022
The M1 money supply in the United Kingdom increased rapidly between 2000 and 2022, with a particularly sharp increase in 2020 as a result of the quantitative easing in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though the rising tendency continued between 2021 and 2022, it noticeably decelerated, with 2022 seeing the slowest increase since 2011. By December 2022, the total UK money supply reached 2.38 trillion British pounds.
