Carbon dioxide emissions in the Nordics 1990-2022
In 2022, the combined annual carbon dioxide emissions of the Nordic countries reached the lowest figure in the past three decades, at 137.2 million metric tons (MtCO₂). In comparison to a decade earlier, this represented a decline of 23 percent. Sweden was the largest emitter in the region in 2022, emitting roughly 41 MtCO₂.
