Private equity fundraising as percentage of Romanian GDP 2017-2022
Romanian fundraising to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) lags behind the investments to GDP mainly because most of the funding raised by regional PEs and partly subsequently deployed in Romanian investments is sourced in other countries (i.e., Poland, Czech Republic). Additionally, the lack of a robust pension funds market in Romania contributes to a low share of funding to GDP. Fundraising to Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first half of 2022 was 0.041 percent of the GDP, the highest rate achieved in the last years.
