Retail sales volume quarterly index in Great Britain 2015-2024
This statistic shows the quarterly trend in the volume of all retail sales (quantity bought) including automotive fuel in Great Britain from 1st quarter 2015 to 1st quarter 2024. The figures are seasonally adjusted estimates, measured using the Retail Sales Index (RSI) and published in index form with a reference year of 2019 equal to 100. Over the time period observed, retail sales increased overall, except for the 2nd quarter of 2020 and the 1st quarter of 2021 where the retail sales volume saw sharp declines, possibly caused by the coronavirus lockdowns. After the 2nd quarter of 2021, retail sales volume had a downward trend until the 4th quarter of 2023, when the sales volume index dropped to 96.1. In the 1st quarter of 2024, retail sales began to recover, with a sales volume index of 97.9.
