CEO Activism

Topics CEOs Should & Shouldn't Speak Out On

Most business leaders don't publically speak out on contentious political or societal issues out of fear of losing customers or getting caught up in ideological battles that cost revenue. Others are outspoken, because voicing their views on current affairs can actually be a marketing asset, as some people "favor CEOs who voice their opinions and are likely to buy products/services from companies that take stands." The public relations firm Weber Shandwick has asked the public to tell them what topics are seen to be rather safe or unsafe for CEOs to express their opinions on. Here's an outtake from their findings.
