Vladimir Putin Becomes Russia's Second Longest-Serving Leader

On Tuesday, Vladimir Putin passed a major landmark. As both prime minister and president, he spent 6,602 days in office, surpassing Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev, according to the Washington Post. Brezhnev had spent 6,601 days in office between 1964 and 1982. Putin is now Russia's longest serving leader since Joseph Stalin who led the Soviet Union for 10,636 days. During his tenure as president and prime minister, Putin has seen four American presidents, four British prime ministers and two German chancellors.
