The word of the year

In some more light-hearted news from Europe, Germany announced its list of most important words of the year on Friday. "Jamaika-Aus" or "Jamaica out" was at the top of that list, which was compiled by the Society for the German Language (GfdS). The word Jamaica became significant in Germany this year as it was used to describe talks between the country's political parties, referred to as the "Jamaica coalition". Out refers to the collapse in talks between the CDU, CSU, Greens and the FDP. Read more in TheLocal.de where the following infographic was featured.
