The men and women most admired by the UK in 2020

In 2002, David Attenborough was named among the 100 Greatest Britons by a BBC poll. The veteran broadcaster and naturalist is still the most admired man in the UK, according to a new YouGov survey. Widely considered a national treasure in Britain, Attenborough had an admiration score of 23.1 percent, ahead of Barack Obama's 15.9 percent. While Attenborough lost around 2 percentage points since 2019, Obama won two - not bad for a man whose term as the U.S. president ended almost four years ago.

After Prince Harry's abdication from this royal duties, he is no longer found among the top 25 most admired men in Britain, despite having scored 5.8 percent (rank 4) last year.

Queen Elizabeth II was the most admired woman in the UK with an admiration score of 23.3 percent. Michelle Obama came second with 10.9 percent.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern, who did not make the top 25 last year, is now the third most-admired with an 8 percent admiration score. Last year's top 3, Dame Judy Dench, has all but disappeared, as has J.K. Rowling - last year's top 4. The Harry Potter author has fallen from grace following anti-trans rhetoric.

Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, climbed into rank 4, while Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, was found in rank 11 of the most admired women in the UK.
