Americans' Religiosity Unlike Similar Countries

Americans by and large mark religion as very important in their lives, on par with countries like Greece and Turkey. Compared to other Western, democratic countries, like Germany, Americans are far more religious, with their prayer habits being closer aligned with the practices of developing nations, like Bangladesh and Bolivia.

Pew found that there was an association between a countries religiosity and that countries level of income inequality. Country’s that held religion as more important were more likely to have higher levels of income inequality. Some sociologists attribute the presences of this correlation to religions role in building faith during financial insecurities.
