North American Adults Are the World’s Wealthiest By Far

Amid the doom and gloom of the debt crisis in the United States, it may come as a surprise that North American adults are the world’s richest by far. In 2013, the estimated wealth per adult in North America was $296,004, representing a 10.5 percent increase on 2012.

Europe is the region with the world’s second wealthiest adults, with estimated wealth per adult coming in at $130,712. This is 7.6 percent higher than last year. Africa and India are the regions with the poorest adults worldwide. In 2013, Africa and India had an estimated wealth per adult of just $4,929 and $4,706 respectively.
