What the UK's non-graduates do for a living

According to the Office for National Statistics, one in eight young people in the United Kingdom without a degree-level qualification works in a graduate job. A graduate job is defined as a position where the tasks typically require knowledge and skills gained through higher education.

Generally, however, non-graduates tend to work in lower-skilled and lower paid jobs. 61 percent of non-graduates aged 22 to 29 work in four job types: elementary jobs, skilled trades, care and sales and customer service. By contrast, 58 percent of graduates in the same age bracket work two job types - professional and associate professional.
