Journalism sees a rise in employment

Journalists in the Anglo-Saxon area are often enough thought to be on the brink of extinction. At least for the UK that is quite wrong. In reality, the pen pusher population has been growing over the last few years, even though most of them will not push any pens anymore but rather hack on their keyboard. In comparison to 2001, we saw an increase of over 30 percent in jobs related to journalism and editing. While the digitalisation indeed decimated journalists on the isles, it also pushed for the development of a new field of employment somewhat later, hence the number of writers rose radically. However, a reasonably high share of those in employment as a writer or editor still live below the poverty line.
