Vaccines: vastly varying opinions in France and the UK

If stereotypes around the two countries' historical rivalry are to be followed, there won't be too many topics where the French and Brits see eye to eye. As a newly released survey by Wellcome shows, the current hot topic of vaccinations only serves to confirm this prejudice.

When quizzed on their views on vaccinating children, 89 percent of people in the UK said they think it is important, compared to just 76 percent in France. Further apart still, a worrying minority of 47 percent in France said they think vaccines are safe, while the figure was 75 percent in the UK. As to their efficacy, 68 percent of French respondents were convinced, compared to 86 percent of Brits.
