How Much EU Legislation Is Adopted Annually?

The European Union adopts countless legislative acts every year and they come in three primary forms - directives, regulations and decisions. Eur-Lex is the homepage of EU law and it maintains statistics on the number of regulations, directives and decisions adopted in a given month as well as those repealed and expired.

So far in 2019, there have been 54 acts falling into the category of "ordinary legislative procedure" which include European Parliament and Council regulations, directives and devisions. There were 172 "other legislative acts" which only involved the European Council.
