Buttigieg's Razor-Thin Iowa Win

With 100 percent of Iowa precincts reporting, it looks like Pete Buttigieg snatched a win by a razor-thin margin from fellow candidate for the Democratic nomination, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT). Just 0.1 percent – the equivalent of 2 delegates - separated Buttigieg and Sanders after the count was completed three days after the event took place.

DNC chair Tom Perez has meanwhile called for a recanvass, which would constitute a recount of all results recorded at the caucus sites, according to CNN. Vote counting descended into chaos following the caucus when a new app designed to collect reports from voting sites failed.

According to the first complete count, five more candidates gained delegates in the caucus. Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) came away with 387 (or 18.0 percent), Joe Biden gained 341 (15.8 percent) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) received 264 delegate pledges (12.3 percent). A much smaller percentage of delegates went to Andrew Yang and Tom Steyer.
