Biden Extends His Lead

According to a preliminary count of votes cast in the primaries held on March 17, Joe Biden was able to extend his lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and has so far taken home 1,165 delegates in all past contests, making him the current front-runner for the Democratic nomination in the 2020 presidential election.

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), who was ahead of Biden in most national polls and the delegate count before Super Tuesday, has suffered losses during the last couple of weeks and currently has 880 delegates to his name. Michael Bloomberg, who won 61 delegates in total and has dropped out of the race, endorsed Biden and vowed to throw his weight (and money) behind him in the run-up to the nomination. Drop-outs Pete Buttigieg and Amy Klobuchar have also endorsed Biden, while Elizabeth Warren, who was the last candidate to drop out of the race, is yet to name an endorsement.
