BTS Break Record For Debut With Most YouTube Views

K-Pop supergroup BTS is known for breaking records and on Friday, they added several more in the course of releasing their new single “Dynamite”. Two notable ones are connected with the simultaneous release of their new music video on YouTube: More than 3 million viewers tuned in live to watch the release, around twice as many as for the live premiere of fellow K-Pop group Blackpink’s June release of single “How You Like That”. Looking at the most views in the first 24 hours on YouTube, BTS dethroned the same Blackpink song by racking up 101 million views compared with Blackpink’s 86 million.

Pop’s biggest septet is known for its army of dedicated fans, which catapulted four BTS songs into the top 8 of YouTube’s songs with the most views in 24 hours. Two more top releases are from K-Pop’s biggest girl group, Blackpink, while Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande also make the list.

Swift garnered much interest for the song ME! in April 2019, which was a surprise release with a elaborate video. Grande had millions tune in to her video for Thank U, Next, which features cameos of Kris Jenner and Jennifer Coolidge as well as Mean Girls stars Jonathan Bennet and Stefanie Drummond.
