Public support for removing UK lockdown restrictions

It's been billed as 'Freedom Day', the already once postponed date upon which a wide range of Covid lockdown restrictions are due to be removed in the UK, including mandatory mask wearing and social distancing. Speaking on the matter on Tuesday, the prime minister confirmed that the measures will be lifted on 19 July, despite an ongoing rise in cases due in large part to the Delta variant - making the UK the most unrestricted country in Europe. As a poll for YouGov this week revealed, there is public support for the move across all age groups, with an average 58 percent saying they back the government action.
