Indians Rate Chance of Financial Success Highly

An overwhelming majority of Indians are fairly certain that they will be able to accumulate a personal fortune in their lifetimes. 71 percent of online Urban Indians said in the Statista Global Consumer Survey that there was a "very good" or "rather good" chance that they would become rich. 93 percent of those questioned in India thought there was at least a moderate chance of them achieving above-average wealth.

Other countries in the survey were much less convinced of their personal financial success. Between 24 and 25 percent were at least fairly certain of it in Mexico, the U.S. and Germany, which were the next highest rates among the eight countries questioned. Together with those saying there was a moderate chance of achieving personal wealth, Mexicans were the most optimistic after Indians and ahead of Australians. In both countries as well as in the U.S., more than half of respondents believed in having a chance at a personal fortune.

Fewer than 40 percent said the same in the UK and France. Here, more than half of respondents said their chances at personal financial success were "rather bad" or "very bad".
