In a 2021 survey of global travelers commissioned by Booking.com, 46 percent of respondents indicated excess waste was the biggest environmental impact concern for travelers. Fewer respondents believed that CO2 emissions were of greatest concern which ranked below overcrowding and threats to wildlife and habitat.
