Sustainability expectations on the rise in the travel sector

A 2021 survey of global travelers commissioned by Booking.com found that 35 percent of respondents believed that accommodations should have room electricity controlled by a keycard or sensor in order to reduce energy use. This was up from 30 percent on the previous year's survey and reflected an overall increase in expectations that accommodation providers should take a greater role in sustainability from 2020 to 2021.
