European Accommodation Barometer 2022: Chain hotels outperformed independent properties

Both independent hotels and chains have benefited from the return of travel enthusiasm after two years of pandemic freeze, and businesses are doing well overall. Chains, however, are shown to be performing consistently better than independent hotels and have a more optimistic financial outlook. In terms of overall business development in the last 6 months, chains (77%) reported more positive business outcomes over independent businesses (68%). Chains also reported a better increase in average daily rate (ADR) than independent hotels and fewer independent hotels saw their occupancy rate increase in the last 6 months compared to chains.

The European Accommodation Barometer 2022 presents the findings of a survey of European accommodation industry professionals commissioned by Booking.com and conducted by Statista. Feel free to download the eBook here if you are interested.
