Working Your Way Out Of Poverty On The Minimum Wage

If you are trying to support a family while working in a minimum wage job, is your take-home pay enough to survive on? The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that a single full-time minimum wage job could leave families below the poverty line in many developed nations across the world.

These include the Czech Republic, Greece and South Korea where weekly working hours in minimum wage employment are relatively unrealistic. Take the Czech Republic as a prime example. A single worker living there with two children earning the minimum wage would have to work 79 hours each week to get above the poverty line.
