A Not So Silent Night: America's Holiday Favorites

It may still be November, but Christmas music is already filling the airwaves. According to new survey data from Statista, reactions to the early holiday soundtrack remain mixed. While a small but firm six percent of U.S. respondents say they don't enjoy any Christmas songs, many others are more enthusiastic.

Overall, Americans tend to agree on a few enduring favorites. All I Want for Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey continues to dominate the holiday playlist, with Feliz Navidad by José Feliciano and Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas by Frank Sinatra following behind.

Generational preferences show some differences. Among Gen Z and Millennials, Mariah Carey's hit is the clear standout, chosen by 44 percent and 40 percent, respectively, as one of their top holiday songs in 2025. Gen X, however, is more divided: 24 percent selected Carey's song, while 20 percent chose Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, 20 percent picked Silent Night and 19 percent named Jingle Bell Rock among their top picks. For Baby Boomers, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Silent Night tied top at 25 percent each, followed by I’ll be Home for Christmas at 22 percent and All I Want for Christmas Is You at 20 percent.
