School's Out For Summer

Last week, primary school students across Germany were finally able to drop their pencils and start enjoying their summer holidays. For other kids the length and breadth of Europe, the classroom might seem like a distant memory. According to figures compiled by the European Commission, primary school students in southern Europe tend to have a longer summer break.

With a generous 13 weeks, Italian kids have the longest summer holidays in Europe. Greece and Portugal are in second place with 12 weeks each. Children in Denmark, Germany and the United Kingdom have the worst deal with a mere 6 weeks of summer holidays each.
