U.S. Election

Preliminary Results of the United States Presidential Election

Donald Trump has been voted the 45th President of the United States. The Republican nominee's triumph came down to a handful of key swing states. Until shortly before the polls opened on Tuesday most observers had predicted Trump's rival Hillary Clinton would win.

The battleground states of Florida, Ohio and North Carolina all fell to Mr. Trump. In the last presidential election 2012, current President Barack Obama had won in Ohio, but also lost North Carolina and Florida.
