People in European countries searching for jobs online, by formal education
The European questionnaire on Information and Communication Technologies Data reveals that there exists a disparity between the internet usage of people with a low, medium, and high formal education level. This disparity although present in most countries, differs widely in its severity.
In 2019, 21 percent of users with low formal education across the European Union (EU-27) responded that they used the internet to search or apply for jobs. The share of users in countries like Germany, Belgium, and France were around and below the EU-27 average. Among people with medium formal education Denmark had significantly higher share then most other European countries, amounting to 34 percent. Interestingly, users in with a high degree of formal education tended to search and apply for jobs online less frequently then people with medium formal education. In France for example, the it was a difference of six percent. In Italy, the gap was even greater with 10 percent.
