Heat advisories are in place as the country is experiencing temperatures in the mid-30s, which are expecting to rise well into the high 30s on Thursday. The mercury in London is forecast to rise higher than many cities around the world renowned for their high summer temperatures.

The 36°C forecast for London on Thursday was higher than the temperature in other European cities such as Lisbon (27°C) and Barcelona (30°C). The temperature of 36° C was also warmer than that of in tropical Bangkok (32°C) and sweltering Tel Aviv (32°C).
