Hong Kong has been crowned the world’s most loved public transport system, according to a Time Out survey of over 18,500 transport users across more than 50 countries. A remarkable 98 percent of respondents in Hong Kong rated their public transport system as either “good” or “amazing”. The city’s network includes the Mass Transit Railway (MTR) with ten lines, air-conditioned buses and minibuses, as well as double-decker trams.
In 2025, Asian cities held many of the top positions in the ranking. Shanghai, China, secured second place, followed by Beijing in third, Taipei (Taiwan) in fifth, Seoul (South Korea) in eighth and Mumbai (India) in ninth. In Europe, London emerged as the highest-ranked city, securing sixth place with 86 percent of respondents giving it a positive rating.
