Tesla Model 3 Becomes Best-Selling EV in Europe

After hitting European markets in late January, Tesla’s Model 3 has become the best-selling electric car in the region in February. According to automotive publication Jato, Model 3 sales surpassed those of European favorites Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf despite the price of the car being somewhat higher.

The Tesla model 3 was also the best sold premium midsize sedan in Europe in February among all electric and combustion engine cars, surpassing the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Audi A4, as well as taking a 31 percent market share in 2019 so far.

The long-term success of the model is still up in the air though. According to Jato, much depends on whether European competitors can bring their own electric midsize sedans to the market. Right now, the Model 3 is only up against some successful European SUVs, like the Jaguar I-Pace and the Audi E-Tron.
