Lib Dems oust Tories in Welsh by-election win

The Tories and Boris Johnson suffered a blow in the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election last night, as the Lib Dems overturned the large majority gained by the Conservatives in 2017. The outgoing Chris Davies was already ousted by recall petition in June after making false expense claims, but was chosen by his party to stand again. It proved the wrong choice however, with him losing by 1,425 votes, overturning his previous majority of 8,038. The result means the government now only has a working majority of one, making the prime minister's Brexit plans look even more ambitious than they already did when he entered Downing Street just days ago.
