Who Leads in Early Primary States?

According to poll averages calculated by Real Clear Politics, Joe Biden still has a good chance at the South Carolina primary after bad luck struck his campaign in Iowa and New Hampshire. Meanwhile, Biden's competitor Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has taken over the lead in national poll averages as of Feb 11 and was polling at 29.5 percent ahead of Biden's 18.0 percent on Feb 27.

Biden still polled ahead Sanders and other competitors for the Democratic presidential nomination in South Carolina, with 34.4 percent of the vote. California, the biggest of the Super Tuesday states, favors Sanders by a similar margin as the national polls.

Pete Buttigieg, whose fared well in the Iowa caucus and the New Hampshire primary, was notably absent from the leading spots in the upcoming primary and caucus states.

In national poll averages too, Buttigieg and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) were overtaken by Michael Bloomberg, who is funneling millions of dollars into his own campaign and found himself in rank three as of Feb 27 after spending heavily on ads.
