Videogame Machines Soak Up Power Even When Not in Use

The PlayStation 4 is the king of energy consumption, using up more power during game play, video streaming and navigation modes than its competitors. Consoles also consume energy when they aren’t in use and the Xbox One is particularly power thirsty on standby mode. It also has a higher annual energy consumption rate than the PS4 and Nintendo’s Wii U. The Wii U is actually the most energy efficient of the three consoles by far. While the Xbox One consumes 233 kilowatt hours per year on average, the Wii U consumes just 37.
