Covid-19 decimates the UK arts sector

Aside from tourism, there aren't many sectors of the economy suffering more from the effects of the coronavirus pandemic than the performing arts. Quantifying this decimation of the industry, data from a TRG Arts and Purple Seven collaboration based on 213 venues in the United Kingdom shows year-on-year falls in ticket revenue of above and around 90 percent in each of the last seven months.

As this infographic illustrates, the first major hit landed in March as the government introduced measures to curtail the spread of Covid-19, leading to a 70 percent drop compared to March 2019.
