Americans' Favorite Video Game Genres

When it comes to Americans' favorite video game genres, it's something of a mixed bag. According to Statista's Global Consumer Survey, U.S. gamers tended to favor action titles the most in 2020 such as platform or fighting games. Action-adventure and strategy were tied for second place in the popularity stakes.

Elsewhere on the list, shooters and adventure games are tied in popularity at 32 percent while perhaps surprisingly, sports titles only managed 24 percent. 2020 was a big year for the simulation genre with Microsoft Flight Simulator landing for desktop PC users and it follows sports closely with 23 percent.
