Tobacco use

Tobacco: The Male Vice

While global tobacco use has been trending downward for the past two decades, the male half of the world population has yet to come around to the idea that smoking may not be the best idea. Not only is smoking a quite literal way of burning money, but the negative health effects of tobacco use have long been known and proven.

According to data from the WHO’s latest global tobacco trends report, there’s a huge gender gap in tobacco use worldwide. While prevalence among women aged 15 and older was estimated at 7.8 percent in 2020, it was almost five times as high at 36.7 percent among the male population of the same age group.
