The Washington Post recently reported on the countries contributing the most students to universities in the United States. These numbers are important - foreign students contribute billions to the U.S. economy. The Brookings Institute estimates they paid around $22 billion in tuition between 2008 and 2013 as well as a further $13 billion in living expenses.

When it comes to the top cities/countries for international students in the United States, Seoul is firmly on top. The South Korean capital contributed an impressive 56,503 students between 2008 and 2012. Beijing comes second with 49,946 while another Chinese city, Shanghai, rounds off the top three with 29,145.
